I first read this in September 2000.

Dr Gary Bracken has discovered something very worrying about virii, and tracking down its full import is going to obsess and maybe destroy him, especially with the government doing its best to keep him away from this area of research. What's he beginning to discover is that virii can act together, purposefully, attempting to mutate humanity into something quite alien.

This was a sad failure : the ideas were good, the writing seemed OK (but who am I to judge?), but there was simply no sense of excitement nor involvement. In particular, I didn't enjoy the plot meandering off into the lifestyle of homo habilis, fine fellows though they may have been, every few pages.

Loaded on the 20th January 2002.
